Eucalyptus Honey is one of the most characteristic honeys of southern Italy and the islands. The Eucalyptus tree, originally from Australia, thrives in Sardinia’s warm Mediterranean climate, where it is cultivated both for timber and as a natural windbreak.

The harvest takes place between June and August, depending on the local microclimate and the Eucalyptus variety. The honey is amber-colored, with medium aroma intensity and a distinctly earthy, balsamic, and warm scent, reminiscent of licorice, caramel, and dried mushrooms.

Its less pronounced sweetness makes it a favorite among those who usually prefer savory flavors. It pairs beautifully with butter toasts, vinaigrettes, or creamy sauces, where it adds subtle complexity.

Warm and distinctive, with caramel and herbal balsamic notes evolving into earthy, slightly salty tones. The flavor is balanced and complex, with a lingering licorice finish that evokes the wild forests of Sardinia.

Empfehlung:

Ideal for savory applications – in vinaigrettes, sauces, or with cheeses. Delicious on buttered toast or as a natural sweetener in herbal teas and warm milk.

Azienda Apistica Reina is a small family-run beekeeping enterprise based in Oliena, in the heart of Barbagia, Sardinia — a region globally renowned for the remarkable longevity of its inhabitants.

Balancing family, work, and her deep passion, Tiziana Reina always finds time for what truly matters to her: crafting some of the finest honeys in Sardinia.

“Our product is made from natural ingredients and produced sustainably,” she told us – “Il nostro prodotto è composto da ingredienti naturali ed è realizzato in modo sostenibile.”

Depending on the season and weather, the Reina family produces not only Millefiori and Abbamele, but also Thyme, Teucrium, Corbezzolo (Strawberry Tree), and Asphodel honey – some of the island’s most prized and rare varieties.

With great respect for nature, Tiziana works in harmony with the environment. There are even years when certain honeys — such as Corbezzolo, Asphodel, or Teucrium — are not harvested, allowing the bees and their ecosystem to regenerate naturally.
