An organic bifloral honey crafted by Arbaree from the combined nectar of Ferula communis (Giant Fennel) and Asphodelus spp. (Asphodel), two emblematic Mediterranean plants. Originating in Simaxis–Oristano, Sardinia, this honey brings together the floral, spicy, and herbal notes of Ferula with the delicate sweetness and vanilla-like aroma of Asphodel, resulting in a rare, harmonious, and layered expression of the island’s springtime flora.

Feurra Cadrelloni reflects the meeting of two Mediterranean blooms that thrive under the island’s sun and resilient soils.

Asphodel, a plant adapted to grazing and wildfires, blooms early in spring and contributes to many Sardinian spring honeys. Though its pollen is underrepresented, its origin is confirmed through its unique minor components. Its honey is light-colored, delicate, with vanilla, almond blossom, and citrus nuances.

Ferula communis, known as Giant Fennel, flowers later and adds depth, herbal warmth, and spiced complexity to the blend, with tones of anise, licorice, and wild herbs.

Together, these elements create a bifloral honey that captures the essence of Sardinia’s Mediterranean vegetation — delicate yet aromatic, floral yet spicy, with a smooth mouthfeel and persistent aftertaste.

A delicate yet aromatic honey with floral and citrus notes from Asphodel, enhanced by herbal and spicy tones from Ferula. The result is complex but harmonious, evolving from sweet vanilla warmth to fresh, green, herbal depth.

Pairing:

Excellent with soft cheeses, yogurt, or fresh fruit. Ideal as a natural sweetener for tea, herbal infusions, and baked pastries.

We first met Daniele Cossu in spring 2024, after he came highly recommended by our friends at Lolla Sardegna. Rafaela described Daniele as one of the most passionate beekeepers she had ever met — someone who is consistently recognized at Italy’s most prestigious honey competition, Tre Gocce d’Oro.

Speaking with Daniele feels like being in the presence of a true honey whisperer. Never before had we learned so many details about beekeeping, the production process, the different honeys, and what sets each one apart. Daniele comes across as someone who has devoted his life to one ultimate goal: producing some of the finest Sardinian honeys.

While it was Daniele’s celebrated Corbezzolo honey that first drew us in, we must point out that every other variety we tasted was equally intense and had a fabulous texture.

Daniele’s organic honeys range from the much-praised Corbezzolo to Asphodel, Chestnut, Mediterranean Maquis, Fennel, Thistle, Cistus, and more — all gathered in and around the pristine Sardinian hills of Simaxis and Nuoro, a region of the world known for its exceptional longevity.
