Giano belongs to Italy’s category of aromatic rice varieties, known for their natural floral notes and clean, sweet fragrance. Its long, slim grains absorb flavours gracefully while maintaining structure, making it suitable for both Mediterranean and international cuisine.

Rice cultivation in Sardinia is a lesser-known but significant tradition. The plains of Oristano and Medio Campidano offer mineral-rich soils, constant ventilation, and abundant sunlight — ideal conditions for producing rice with clarity, aroma, and balanced starch content. Sardinia is, in fact, Italy’s fourth-largest rice producer and a source of some of the country’s highest-quality seed stock.
