Story behind the bottle · Monte San Piero Soave Superiore
The hills between Roncà and Montecchia di Crosara represent one of the most distinctive terroirs within the Soave area. Here, ancient volcanic soils rich in basalt create wines with remarkable minerality and structure.
With Monte San Piero, Sandro De Bruno aims to capture the pure expression of Garganega grown on these unique soils. The vineyard lies on the slopes of Monte Calvarina, a dormant volcanic formation that shapes the character of the wine through its mineral-rich terrain.
Rather than emphasizing fruit alone, this wine highlights the tension between ripeness, freshness and volcanic minerality. The result is a Soave that is both powerful and refined, revealing complex aromas and a long, savory finish that reflects its origin.
Notes in the glass
Monte San Piero presents in the glass with an intense golden yellow color and notable viscosity.
The nose is complex and evolving, revealing aromas of ripe stone fruit, dehydrated apricot, exotic fruit and almond, followed by white flowers such as jasmine and orange blossom. With aeration, additional layers emerge: toasted notes, sweet spices, lemon zest, balsamic nuances and hints of herbs and resin.
On the palate, the wine is warm, enveloping and persistent. The texture is rich yet balanced by vibrant acidity and a distinct saline, volcanic minerality. Subtle nutty tones, citrus pith and mineral depth lead to a long and savory finish.
About the winery · Sandro De Bruno
The winery Sandro De Bruno was founded in 2002 by Sandro Tasoniero and Marina Ferraretto with the vision of revealing the true potential of the volcanic terroirs of eastern Veneto.
Located near the town of Soave, the estate cultivates around 11 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of Monte Calvarina, an ancient volcanic formation whose basaltic soils are among the most distinctive in the region. Many of the vineyards lie at elevations of up to 600 meters above sea level, where significant temperature differences between warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly while preserving freshness and aromatic complexity.
From the beginning, the winery has focused on the region’s autochthonous grape varieties, particularly Garganega and Durella. Their goal has always been to reinterpret these traditional grapes with precision and personality, producing wines that reflect both the volcanic origin of the soils and the unique microclimate of the hills.
Sandro De Bruno also played a role in bringing renewed attention to Durella, an almost forgotten native variety capable of producing highly distinctive sparkling wines. Alongside their Soave wines, this grape has become an important part of the estate’s identity.
In both vineyard and cellar, the philosophy is guided by a principle of minimal intervention and respect for nature. The vineyards are farmed using sustainable practices, relying on organic fertilizers and avoiding synthetic herbicides. Harvesting is carried out by hand, and winemaking techniques are designed to preserve the purity of the fruit and the character of the terroir.
Through careful work and patience, Sandro De Bruno produces wines that express the volcanic soul of Soave — precise, mineral-driven and deeply connected to their origin.

| Production method | Harvest takes place manually in small crates during the third or fourth week of October, ensuring careful selection of fully ripe grapes. After destemming, the grapes undergo cold skin maceration at 5–7°C for approximately 18 hours in a closed press. This technique gently extracts aromatic compounds while preserving freshness. The must is softly pressed under nitrogen protection and clarified naturally. Fermentation occurs in third-pass French oak tonneaux, followed by 18 months of ageing on fine lees. During the first months, bâtonnage is carried out regularly to increase structure and aromatic complexity. After maturation, the wine rests 5–7 months in bottle before release, allowing the components to integrate harmoniously. |

Our focus lies on small, family-run wineries that work with dedication and heart. Every wine has a story worth telling. You won’t find these bottles in supermarkets – nor in the vast catalogs of large online retailers. Our wines, and the stories they tell, are meant to be discovered and appreciated.
🏡 Storage
For us, every wine tasting is a sensual experience. Proper storage therefore plays a crucial role in preserving quality.
All wines in our selection at Tresmundi are kept in a specially designed wine cellar in Hamburg, maintained with controlled temperature, humidity, and sound insulation.
Bottles are stored horizontally and away from light sources, ensuring the cork remains in contact with the wine to prevent unwanted oxidation. This careful process allows each wine to develop beautifully and reach you in perfect condition.
📦 Delivery
Our wines are shipped in certified DHL packaging designed specifically for safe wine transport (for wine orders only). If your order includes other products, we wrap each bottle securely in bubble wrap to minimize the risk of breakage.
