Story behind the bottle · Angioino: Primitivo di Manduria DOP
In a sea of overripe, heavy Primitivos, Angioino from Vini Schiena stands out for its balance and restraint. Crafted in the Manduria region of Apulia, this wine is born from hand-harvested Primitivo vines rooted in stony, calcareous soils. Here, warm days give richness while cool nights preserve elegance and freshness.
Giuseppe Schiena employs a careful approach: six months in stainless steel to safeguard fruit purity, followed by gentle aging in American oak barriques. This restrained use of oak adds complexity without overpowering the authentic character of the grape. The result is a Primitivo that is powerful yet refined, a true reflection of Manduria’s terroir.
Notes in the glass
A deep ruby red, Angioino opens with aromas of ripe cherry, wild berries, and dried fruit, lifted by hints of sweet spice, vanilla, and subtle tobacco leaf. On the palate it is full-bodied yet silky, showing jammy red fruits layered with notes of coffee, nutmeg, and toasted oak. Velvety tannins and a long, harmonious finish leave a lasting impression of elegance and balance.
About the winery · Schiena Vini
The Schiena Vini project was launched in 1991 by Giuseppe Schiena, who grew up in a family of winemakers. In 1993, he acquired 30 hectares of vineyards in the picturesque landscape of Francavilla Fontana, known as the “Land of the Emperors.” The foundation for producing quality wine lies in immaculate and fragrant grapes, and the estate places the greatest importance on the careful cultivation of its vineyards.
The vineyards are located in northern Salento, around Francavilla Fontana. The soils are medium-textured and rich in limestone, with some prominent rocky outcrops; the area benefits from an ideal microclimate for the development of colorful and aromatic grapes.
Schiena’s winery works nearly 360 days a year, investing eyes, hands, feelings, and heart. This passion makes it possible to obtain healthy, fragrant grapes without the use of chemicals. Harvesting is carried out exclusively and consistently by hand.
The company’s environmentally friendly approach is also reflected in the choice of lightweight bottles and the limited use of sulfites, underscoring its commitment to sustainable practices.
On its 35 hectares of vineyards, Schiena produces around 40,000 bottles of white and red wine annually. The range focuses on traditional Apulian grape varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, and Malvasia, aiming more for quality than for quantity.

| Production method | Angioino is crafted from hand-picked grapes, carefully collected in small crates to preserve their integrity. Harvest typically takes place in mid-September, when the fruit has reached perfect ripeness. After gentle destemming and crushing, the must is macerated with the skins for 12 to 15 days. Regular délestage enhances the extraction of color, aroma, and silky tannins, while a controlled fermentation at 23–24 °C preserves the wine’s natural freshness and vibrant fruit character. The wine first rests for six months in stainless steel tanks, allowing its pure fruit and varietal expression to shine. It then continues its journey with an additional six months in American oak barriques, where it gains elegant layers of vanilla, toasted nuances, and supple, rounded tannins. The result is a harmonious and well-balanced wine, where lively fruit and refined oak come together in a smooth, captivating expression. |

🍇 Selection
At Tresmundi, every wine is chosen with the utmost care – guided by the expertise of a certified wine professional with WSET Level 2. With deep knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, and tasting, we ensure that every bottle in our collection meets the highest standards of quality, balance, and character.
We focus on wines that tell a story – whether it’s a hidden gem from a small family estate or a timeless classic from a renowned region. What we offer is more than a drink: it’s an experience.
Food and wine are two of our greatest passions. They are among the richest and most rewarding pleasures in life – and we indulge in them as often as possible. When selecting our producers, we consider not only taste, appearance, or awards, but also their values, traditions, and sense of place. Above all, we value passion and respect for nature and craftsmanship. We make sure that each producer’s philosophy and vision are reflected in every drop.
Our focus lies on small, family-run wineries that work with dedication and heart. Every wine has a story worth telling. You won’t find these bottles in supermarkets – nor in the vast catalogs of large online retailers. Our wines, and the stories they tell, are meant to be discovered and appreciated.
🏡 Storage
For us, every wine tasting is a sensual experience. Proper storage therefore plays a crucial role in preserving quality.
All wines in our selection at Tresmundi are kept in a specially designed wine cellar in Hamburg, maintained with controlled temperature, humidity, and sound insulation.
Bottles are stored horizontally and away from light sources, ensuring the cork remains in contact with the wine to prevent unwanted oxidation. This careful process allows each wine to develop beautifully and reach you in perfect condition.
📦 Delivery
Our wines are shipped in certified DHL packaging designed specifically for safe wine transport (for wine orders only). If your order includes other products, we wrap each bottle securely in bubble wrap to minimize the risk of breakage.
