Story behind the bottle · Li Briganti
Grown in Francavilla Fontana, this wine highlights the revival of a native grape once nearly forgotten. Susumaniello, traditionally used to add colour and structure in blends, shines here in its pure form. Vini Schiena harvests the grapes manually and vinifies them with careful temperature control to preserve cherry, pomegranate and spice aromas. This minimalist ageing approach focuses on freshness, finesse and authentic southern character.
Notes in the glass
Li Briganti – Susumaniello presents in the glass with a deep ruby colour and subtle violet reflections. The wine opens with pronounced aromas of cherries, raspberries and light spice. On the palate, it shows a full yet elegant body, with cherry and pomegranate notes well integrated with smooth, refined tannins. The finish is balanced, fruit-driven, and gently warming.
Pairing: Excellent with orecchiette, tomato-based pasta dishes, mushroom soups, cured meats, soft or stretched-curd cheeses, roast meats and rustic Puglian cuisine.
About the winery · Schiena Vini
The Schiena Vini project was launched in 1991 by Giuseppe Schiena, who grew up in a family of winemakers. In 1993, he acquired 30 hectares of vineyards in the picturesque landscape of Francavilla Fontana, known as the “Land of the Emperors.” The foundation for producing quality wine lies in immaculate and fragrant grapes, and the estate places the greatest importance on the careful cultivation of its vineyards.
The vineyards are located in northern Salento, around Francavilla Fontana. The soils are medium-textured and rich in limestone, with some prominent rocky outcrops; the area benefits from an ideal microclimate for the development of colorful and aromatic grapes.
Schiena’s winery works nearly 360 days a year, investing eyes, hands, feelings, and heart. This passion makes it possible to obtain healthy, fragrant grapes without the use of chemicals. Harvesting is carried out exclusively and consistently by hand.
The company’s environmentally friendly approach is also reflected in the choice of lightweight bottles and the limited use of sulfites, underscoring its commitment to sustainable practices.
On its 35 hectares of vineyards, Schiena produces around 40,000 bottles of white and red wine annually. The range focuses on traditional Apulian grape varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, and Malvasia, aiming more for quality than for quantity.

| Production method | The harvest begins at the end of September, when the fully ripe Susumaniello grapes are picked by hand and placed in small crates to preserve their integrity. Once in the cellar, the berries are destemmed and fermented at a controlled 27 °C for 8–10 days, with daily pump-overs enhancing colour and aromatic extraction. After fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic conversion, gaining roundness and textural softness. It then rests for six months in stainless steel and continues ageing for a further twelve months in the bottle, ensuring balance, elegance and a smooth tannic profile. |

🍇 Selection
At Tresmundi, every wine is chosen with the utmost care – guided by the expertise of a certified wine professional with WSET Level 2. With deep knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, and tasting, we ensure that every bottle in our collection meets the highest standards of quality, balance, and character.
We focus on wines that tell a story – whether it’s a hidden gem from a small family estate or a timeless classic from a renowned region. What we offer is more than a drink: it’s an experience.
Food and wine are two of our greatest passions. They are among the richest and most rewarding pleasures in life – and we indulge in them as often as possible. When selecting our producers, we consider not only taste, appearance, or awards, but also their values, traditions, and sense of place. Above all, we value passion and respect for nature and craftsmanship. We make sure that each producer’s philosophy and vision are reflected in every drop.
Our focus lies on small, family-run wineries that work with dedication and heart. Every wine has a story worth telling. You won’t find these bottles in supermarkets – nor in the vast catalogs of large online retailers. Our wines, and the stories they tell, are meant to be discovered and appreciated.
🏡 Storage
For us, every wine tasting is a sensual experience. Proper storage therefore plays a crucial role in preserving quality.
All wines in our selection at Tresmundi are kept in a specially designed wine cellar in Hamburg, maintained with controlled temperature, humidity, and sound insulation.
Bottles are stored horizontally and away from light sources, ensuring the cork remains in contact with the wine to prevent unwanted oxidation. This careful process allows each wine to develop beautifully and reach you in perfect condition.
📦 Delivery
Our wines are shipped in certified DHL packaging designed specifically for safe wine transport (for wine orders only). If your order includes other products, we wrap each bottle securely in bubble wrap to minimize the risk of breakage.
