Among the Primitivo expressions of Vini Schiena, Tre Compari stands out for its balance and velvety texture. The absence of barrique highlights the natural dark plum, blackberry and spice notes typical of Primitivo. Crafted from vineyards near Francavilla Fontana, the wine represents the warmth and generosity of Salento — approachable, aromatic, and full of Mediterranean character.

Tre Compari – Primitivo Salento IGP presents in the glass with a ruby red colour and garnet reflections. It opens with aromas of cherry, red berries, dried plum and blackberry, followed by subtle chocolate and truffle nuances. On the palate, the wine is soft, full and well-balanced, showing smooth tannins, dark fruit, and a long, velvety finish with hints of Mediterranean spice.

Pairing: Excellent with rich pasta dishes, roasted poultry, red meats, mushroom soups, moderately aged cheeses, and hearty Apulian cuisine.

The Schiena Vini project was launched in 1991 by Giuseppe Schiena, who grew up in a family of winemakers. In 1993, he acquired 30 hectares of vineyards in the picturesque landscape of Francavilla Fontana, known as the “Land of the Emperors.” The foundation for producing quality wine lies in immaculate and fragrant grapes, and the estate places the greatest importance on the careful cultivation of its vineyards.

The vineyards are located in northern Salento, around Francavilla Fontana. The soils are medium-textured and rich in limestone, with some prominent rocky outcrops; the area benefits from an ideal microclimate for the development of colorful and aromatic grapes.

Schiena’s winery works nearly 360 days a year, investing eyes, hands, feelings, and heart. This passion makes it possible to obtain healthy, fragrant grapes without the use of chemicals. Harvesting is carried out exclusively and consistently by hand.

The company’s environmentally friendly approach is also reflected in the choice of lightweight bottles and the limited use of sulfites, underscoring its commitment to sustainable practices.

On its 35 hectares of vineyards, Schiena produces around 40,000 bottles of white and red wine annually. The range focuses on traditional Apulian grape varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, and Malvasia, aiming more for quality than for quantity.

Production method

The harvest begins in early September, when the ripe Primitivo grapes are hand-picked and placed into small crates to preserve their condition.

After gentle crushing and destemming, the must remains in contact with the skins for 8–10 days, supported by regular pump-overs to enhance colour and aromatic extraction.

Fermentation takes place at 23–24 °C to maintain the grape’s natural fruitiness. Following malolactic conversion, the wine rests for five months in stainless steel to retain purity and freshness, before completing its refinement with one month in the bottle.

🍇 Selection

At Tresmundi, every wine is chosen with the utmost care – guided by the expertise of a certified wine professional with WSET Level 2. With deep knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, and tasting, we ensure that every bottle in our collection meets the highest standards of quality, balance, and character.

We focus on wines that tell a story – whether it’s a hidden gem from a small family estate or a timeless classic from a renowned region. What we offer is more than a drink: it’s an experience.

Food and wine are two of our greatest passions. They are among the richest and most rewarding pleasures in life – and we indulge in them as often as possible. When selecting our producers, we consider not only taste, appearance, or awards, but also their values, traditions, and sense of place. Above all, we value passion and respect for nature and craftsmanship. We make sure that each producer’s philosophy and vision are reflected in every drop.

Our focus lies on small, family-run wineries that work with dedication and heart. Every wine has a story worth telling. You won’t find these bottles in supermarkets – nor in the vast catalogs of large online retailers. Our wines, and the stories they tell, are meant to be discovered and appreciated.

🏡 Storage

For us, every wine tasting is a sensual experience. Proper storage therefore plays a crucial role in preserving quality.

All wines in our selection at Tresmundi are kept in a specially designed wine cellar in Hamburg, maintained with controlled temperature, humidity, and sound insulation.

Bottles are stored horizontally and away from light sources, ensuring the cork remains in contact with the wine to prevent unwanted oxidation. This careful process allows each wine to develop beautifully and reach you in perfect condition.

📦 Delivery

Our wines are shipped in certified DHL packaging designed specifically for safe wine transport (for wine orders only). If your order includes other products, we wrap each bottle securely in bubble wrap to minimize the risk of breakage.
