Story behind the bottle · Carros
The Orbuddai vineyard lies among olive groves and almond trees in one of Sardinia’s most iconic terroirs for Cannonau. Here, the grape develops its full aromatic personality: fresh red berries, myrtle, Mediterranean scrub, and a fine spiciness. The tradition of Nepente dates back to the 1500s, when Franciscan monks planted the first Cannonau vines; the name “Nepente,” meaning “no sadness,” was later immortalised by poet Gabriele D’Annunzio.
Carros continues this legacy, offering a pure, elegant, deeply rooted expression of Oliena’s heritage.
Notes in the glass
Carros shows a garnet-red colour with purple reflections. The nose is elegant and expressive, offering fresh red fruit, myrtle, Mediterranean scrub and gentle spicy undertones. On the palate, the wine has a solid acidic backbone, balanced tannins, and a harmonious structure. Fruity and spicy elements re-emerge, confirming the aromatic complexity sensed on the nose.
Pairing: Ideal with Sardinian cured meats, matured pecorino, roast meats, slow-cooked lamb, Culurgiones, and Mediterranean herb dishes.
About the winery · Fratelli Puddu
Fratelli Puddu is a family-run winery rooted in the historic wine culture of Oliena, where Cannonau has shaped viticulture for generations. Founded in 1976, the estate has grown gradually from a small family venture into a modern winery that still works in close harmony with its land. Today, the Puddu family cultivates around 30 hectares of vineyards and an additional 15 hectares of olive groves, focusing on local varieties such as Cannonau, Nera di Oliena, and Bosana.
The winery lies at the foot of Monte Corrasi, the white-dolomite massif that dominates the Supramonte. This dramatic landscape—marked by Mediterranean scrub, wild herbs, and high biodiversity—creates a distinctive environment for grape growing. Here, decomposed granite soils with limestone elements and significant day–night temperature shifts shape wines with marked freshness, fine tannins, and aromatic concentration.
Cannonau remains the heart of the estate. In Oliena, this variety finds one of its most expressive forms, recognized through the DOC Cannonau di Sardegna – Nepente di Oliena subzone. Fratelli Puddu produces both traditional expressions and innovative interpretations, guided by a philosophy that combines respect for tradition, continuous quality improvement, and careful experimentation. Organic vineyard practices further emphasize the connection between the family and their land.
Fratelli Puddu continues to embody the agricultural heritage of Oliena, crafting wines that reflect the local terroir while looking confidently toward the future.

🍇 Selection
At Tresmundi, every wine is chosen with the utmost care – guided by the expertise of a certified wine professional with WSET Level 2. With deep knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, and tasting, we ensure that every bottle in our collection meets the highest standards of quality, balance, and character.
We focus on wines that tell a story – whether it’s a hidden gem from a small family estate or a timeless classic from a renowned region. What we offer is more than a drink: it’s an experience.
Food and wine are two of our greatest passions. They are among the richest and most rewarding pleasures in life – and we indulge in them as often as possible. When selecting our producers, we consider not only taste, appearance, or awards, but also their values, traditions, and sense of place. Above all, we value passion and respect for nature and craftsmanship. We make sure that each producer’s philosophy and vision are reflected in every drop.
Our focus lies on small, family-run wineries that work with dedication and heart. Every wine has a story worth telling. You won’t find these bottles in supermarkets – nor in the vast catalogs of large online retailers. Our wines, and the stories they tell, are meant to be discovered and appreciated.
🏡 Storage
For us, every wine tasting is a sensual experience. Proper storage therefore plays a crucial role in preserving quality.
All wines in our selection at Tresmundi are kept in a specially designed wine cellar in Hamburg, maintained with controlled temperature, humidity, and sound insulation.
Bottles are stored horizontally and away from light sources, ensuring the cork remains in contact with the wine to prevent unwanted oxidation. This careful process allows each wine to develop beautifully and reach you in perfect condition.
📦 Delivery
Our wines are shipped in certified DHL packaging designed specifically for safe wine transport (for wine orders only). If your order includes other products, we wrap each bottle securely in bubble wrap to minimize the risk of breakage.
Between mid-September and early October, the grapes are harvested manually in crates to ensure careful selection at optimum ripeness.
Fermentation & Maceration
Fermentation takes place at controlled low temperatures (around 20 °C) to preserve the fresh components typical of Cannonau. Extended maceration extracts colour, aromatic compounds and fine tannins from skins, seeds and stalks.
Ageing
Following fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in 500-litre oak barrels. A further three months of bottle ageing refine the texture and integrate the tannins before release.
