Story behind the bottle · Tommaso Bojola: Chianti Classico DOCG
Dedicated to the estate’s philosophy—“wines that need time to develop”, as stated by Tommaso Bojola—this Chianti Classico is made from fruit grown in the high hills of Castellina. The southwest exposure allows full phenolic ripeness without overheating, preserving finesse and balancing acidity.
Merlot adds velvet and fruit richness, softening the tannic backbone of Sangiovese while enhancing blackcurrant, black cherry and ripe berry notes. Barrique ageing enriches the profile with vanilla, spice, oak and fine tobacco.
Notes in the glass
Chianti Classico “Tommaso Bojola” presents in the glass with a deep ruby red colour, sometimes touched by violet highlights. It opens with an intense and persistent bouquet of berries, overripe fruit, and delicate hints of oak, pepper, vanilla and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is finely structured, full-bodied and long-lasting, offering a silky, velvety texture balanced by the grip of Sangiovese tannins. The addition of Merlot enhances black fruit richness and provides subtle smoothness in the finish.
Pairing: Perfect with game-based starters, grilled meats, stews, slow-cooked roasts, dry-cured meats and Pecorino. Ideal after decanting 90–120 minutes.
About the winery · Squarcialupi
Tenute Squarcialupi is led by Tommaso Bojola and his family, who continue a long tradition of viticulture on the historic estates of the influential Squarcialupi family, established in Chianti since the early 1200s. These lands form part of Castellina in Chianti, one of the three original sub-zones of the historic Chianti Classico area, recognized as the world’s first officially delimited wine region in 1716.
Vineyards & Terroir
The estate’s wines originate from some of the oldest vineyards in Castellina, situated at around 600 meters on the southern slopes of the town.
These high-altitude plots yield naturally balanced grapes, producing wines with fresh fruit precision, floral nuances, and a clear expression of the Chianti terroir.
Beyond Chianti Classico, the winery also cultivates a small estate in the Maremma region, providing grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Alicante.
Organic Philosophy & Vineyard Practices
Since 2008, the estate has followed organic viticulture, eliminating chemical fertilizers and synthetic pesticides.
The focus is placed on careful vineyard management, healthy soils and low-yield, high-quality grape production. From the 2020 vintage onward, all wines have been fully certified organic.
Winemaking Approach
In the cellar, the goal is to highlight the authentic varietal character and the identity of each site.
The estate works with a broad stylistic range, includin wines fermented in amphora, long macerations, wines crafted without added sulfites, cuvées from dried grapes and even traditional-method sparkling wine.
Every wine aims to either convey the classic Chianti Classico profile or express a distinctive, individual style emerging from the estate’s experimentation.

| Production method | The harvest begins around mid-October, up to fifteen days later than usual, allowing part of the fruit to slightly overripen on the vine and deepen its aromatic potential. The grapes are carefully hand-selected and placed in small crates to preserve integrity. Fermentation takes place in rotating barriques resting on special supports, which allow the skins to be lifted and gently submerged, achieving an extended forty-day maceration and delicate extraction of polyphenols. After the first 8–10 days, all sugars have transformed into alcohol, and the free-run wine is separated from the pressed pomace. Malolactic fermentation follows for about twenty days on fine lees to soften texture. The wine then ages for twelve months in barriques and tonneaux, where structure is refined and aromatic layers evolve, before resting three additional months in bottle prior to release. |

Food and wine are two of our greatest passions. They are among the richest and most rewarding pleasures in life – and we indulge in them as often as possible. When selecting our producers, we consider not only taste, appearance, or awards, but also their values, traditions, and sense of place. Above all, we value passion and respect for nature and craftsmanship. We make sure that each producer’s philosophy and vision are reflected in every drop.
Our focus lies on small, family-run wineries that work with dedication and heart. Every wine has a story worth telling. You won’t find these bottles in supermarkets – nor in the vast catalogs of large online retailers. Our wines, and the stories they tell, are meant to be discovered and appreciated.
🏡 Storage
For us, every wine tasting is a sensual experience. Proper storage therefore plays a crucial role in preserving quality.
All wines in our selection at Tresmundi are kept in a specially designed wine cellar in Hamburg, maintained with controlled temperature, humidity, and sound insulation.
Bottles are stored horizontally and away from light sources, ensuring the cork remains in contact with the wine to prevent unwanted oxidation. This careful process allows each wine to develop beautifully and reach you in perfect condition.
📦 Delivery
Our wines are shipped in certified DHL packaging designed specifically for safe wine transport (for wine orders only). If your order includes other products, we wrap each bottle securely in bubble wrap to minimize the risk of breakage.
